Question 293991: find an equation of the line containing the points (2,3) and (-6,1)
Answer by checkley77(12844)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(2,3) and (-6,1)
Y=mX+b
m=slope (Y2=Y1)/(X2-X1)
b=the Y intercept.
m=(1-3)/(-6-2)=-2/-8=1/4 ans. for the slope.
3=1/4*2+b
3=2/4+b
b=3-1/2
b=2.5 ans. for the Y intercept.
Y=X/4+2.5 ans. for the line equation.
