Question 28674: I am having some real problems with this. I have not been in an algebra class for 24 years and am taking this class online and would love some assistance. Could you explain the process you used to solve it, thanks so much you guys are great.
Straight line depreciation is a linear equation. The current value y, of a certain company's piece of equipment after x years is y = 30,000 - 1000x.
a. Find the intial value of the equipment
b. Find the value after 4 years
c. Find the value after 6 years
d. Graph the depreciation line.
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
a) "initial value" means that x=0
And y=30,000 when x=0
b) when x=4 y=30000-1000(4)=26000
c) when x=6 y=30000-1000(6)=24000
d) the depreciation line passes through (0,30000), (4,26000), (6,24000)
as we determined in "a", "b", and "c".
Good luck with your studies.
Cheers,
stan H.
