Fist we have to get rid of the fraction by multiplying both sides by 2. When you multiply by 2 the 2’s cancel, leaving you with . What you do to one side you have to do to the other. When you multiply by 2 you get . Now you have . Add 6x to both sides to get . Now add 6 to both sides to get . Now we have to get x by itself by dividing both sides by 10 to solve for x. 10 divided by 10 is 1. .
Now we have to check our answer by plugging in 1 for x into the original equation . = = = . The answer is correct, x=1.
