There are two common forms for linear equations
standard and slope-intercept
standard is ax+by=c
slope-intercept form is y=mx+b
but the b's are not the same
y=mx+b
-1=-1*3+b
-1=-3+b
2=b
y=-x+2 slope intercept form
x+y=2 is standard form
a and b are both 1 and c=2
