Question 278973: how do you solve y=3/4x+ 2 and y=-x+8 when looking for the point of intersection
?

Answer by checkley77(12844)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
y=3/4x+2 (red line)
y=-x+8 (green line)
SET THE 2 EQUATIONS EQUAL.
3x/4+2=-x+8
3x/4+x=8-2
(3x+4x)/4=6 cross multiply
7x=24
x=24/7 ans. for the x intersect value.
y=-24/7+8
y=(-24+8*7)/7
y=(-24+56)/7
y=32/7 ans. for thre y intersect value.
SOLUTION: (24/7,32/7)
Proof:
(graph 300x200 pixels, x from -6 to 5, y from -10 to 10, of TWO functions 3x/4 +2 and -x +8).
