7x-3=6x
first of all you want to get 3 to the other side, to do that you need to add 3 to both sides;
7x-3+3=6x+3
7x=6x+3
Now you want 6x on the other side, so you subtract 6x from both sides;
7x-6x=6x+3-6x
add like terms;
x=3
