Apply elimination or substitution to find the coordinates of the point of intersection (if there are no solutions or infinite solutions, state this). Show your work.
5x - 8y = 34
7x + 2y = 8

Here is how I did it, I just want to know if I did it correctly.
5x - 8y = 34
x = 0 5(0)-8y = 34
-8y/-8 = 34/-8 = 17/-2
y = 0 5x - 8(0) = 34
5x - 0 = 34
x = 34/5
7x + 2y = 8
x = 0 7(0) + 2y = 8
2y = 8
y = 4
y = 0 7x + 2(0) = 8
7x = 8
x = 8/7
I will use the elimination system to find the intersection.
5x - 8y = 34
28x + 8y = 32 I multiplied this by 4 to eliminiate y. Now I will add them.
33x = 66
x = 2
5(2) - 8y = 34
10 - 8y = 34
-8y = 24
y = -3
The intersection is (2,-3)
