Question 2612: How do I write an equation for the line that has a slope and y-intercept of 3?
Also, how do I write an equation for a line that has a y-intercept of -1 and is perpendicular to a line that has a slope of -1?
Thanks for your help!
Answer by kiru_khandelwal(79) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Equation of the line is y = mx + c
where m is the slope and c is the y intercept
so if slope is 3 and y intercept is also 3 equation of the line will be
y = 3x + 3
If a line is perpendicular to a line with slope m, then the slope of that line will be -1/m
So if the slope of a line be -1 then slope of the line perpendicualr will be 1
y intercept is -1
so equation of the line will be
y = 1x -1
=> y = x-1
