i did this :
y=1/2x + 7/4 then i subtracted 1/2x from both sides .
the i had this : -1/2x + y = 7/4
then i multiplied 2 for everything

is also correct, and probably the way I would have written it, but neither way is more correct than the other. Some people are glad to see you, others are happy to see you.
One other thing I would change about your process:
You subtracted
from both sides. I would have added
to both sides. The difference is quite subtle, but I find that if you never subtract, but add the additive inverse instead, and you never divide, rather multiply by the reciprocal, you make lots fewer errors.
