If you have a table of input and output values, then there are two basic ideas:
1. If the data set is graphed and is a straight line, or the table has a constant slope, use the slope formula and y = mx + b.
2. If the data set is a scatter plot and appears to have a positive or negative slope hen graphed, then estimate with a line of best fit.
