y=mx+b is the slope intercept form
m=slope and b = y intercept when x=0
parallel lines have the same slope
so put the equation in this form and extract m
then take that slope and insert it in y=mx+b
y=Mx+b
substitute the X and Y of the point into the equation and solve for b
Y=MX+b
then insert new numbers for m and b
in y=mx+b
and there you have it
