Question 25188: How do you solve and graph linear equations?
Answer by elima(1433) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
There are different ways to solve the. Your teacher usually tells you how she wants it solved.
One way is to make a table and choose values for x and then solve the eauation for y;
Lets say we hve the equation;
2x+y=10
Make a table of values for x;
x | y
-----
1 |
0 |
2 |
Plug the values in the equation for x and then solve for y;
2(1)+y=10
2+y=10
y=10-2
y=8
So your first point would be;
(1,8)
Then continue solving the equation for each choosen value of x to get y.
Once you have the points you would then plot them on the graph and draw a line connecting them
Hope you understand
=)
