Question 250374: I need to solve this by elimination and get an ordered pair
5r-7s=-28
7r+5s=94
can someone please help me I cant get the right answer, thank you

Answer by fractalier(6550)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Okay, let's multiply the top one by five and the bottom one by seven and get
5r-7s=-28
7r+5s=94
becomes
25r - 35s = -140
49r + 35s = 658
then add equations...notice the esses drop out...
74r = 518 now divide by 74 and get
r = 7 now substitute that back in to either of the original equations and get...
5(7) - 7s = -28
35 - 7s = -28
-7s = -63
s = 9
Your ordered pair is then (7, 9).
