0.4x + 1 < 1.2x - 2 add 2 to each side
0.4x + 3 < 1.2x subtract 0.4x from each side
3 < 0.8x multiply by 10/8
30/8 < x
15/4 < x
3 3/4 < x or swap around (remembering to change the direction)
x > 3 3/4
