I can't understand how to graph this, or were to put the points.
The problem is 6x + 3y = -12
:
First you want to put into the slope intercept form (y = mx + b)
6x - 3y = -12
-3y = -6x - 12
y has to be positive, multiply by -1; changes the signs
3y = 6x + 12
Divide eq by 3
y = 2x + 4
:
Select a value for x and find y
x = 3
y = 2(3) + 4
y = 6 + 4
y = 10
graph the point, 3,10
:
x = -3
y = 2(-3) + 4
y = -6 + 4
y = -2
graph the point, -3,-2
:
You only need two points, but an easy point is x=0
y = 2(0) + 4
y = 4
graph the point, 0,4
:
Should look like this:
