Question 245797: 0.3x-0.2y=4
0.2x+0.5y=-75/17
This is supposed to be solved by the elimination method and the solution is an ordered pair of fractions simplified. Can someone please help me with this I have never done one like this before and I keep coming up with different solutions. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You.

Answer by Alan3354(69443)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
0.3x-0.2y=4
0.2x+0.5y=-75/17
-----------------
0.6x - 0.4y = 8 eqn 1 x 2
0.6x + 1.5y = -225/17 eqn 2 x 3
--------------------- Subtract
-1.9y = 361/17
y = -190/17
------------
0.3x + 38/17 = 4
0.3x = 30/17
x = 100/17
--> (100/17,-190/17)
