Good Afternoon,
First expand the equation, by multiplying through by (2/3):
-(2/3)6 + (2/3)2a=6
Simplify:
-12/3 + 4a/3 = 6
-4+4a/3=6
Solve for a:
(1)move the 4 to the right-hand-side by adding 4 to each side:
-4 +4 +4a/3=6+4
4a/3=10
(2) move the fraction to the right-hand-side too by division
(3/4)(4a/3)=10(3/4)
a=30/4
simplify the fraction:
a=15/2
check the answer:
substitute a=15/2 into the original equation:
-(2/3)6+(2/3)2(15/2)=6
-4+10=6
The left-hand-side is equal to the right-hand-side so the solution is correct
Good Luck!
