Question 233459: What are the intercepts of equation x+y=56, and intercept of y=3x, and where would the lines intersect if you solved the system by graphing
Answer by Alan3354(69443) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
What are the intercepts of equation x+y=56
The y-intercept is at x = 0 --> (0,56)
The x-intercept is at y = 0 -->(56,0)
-------------------------------------
intercept of y=3x
That goes thru the origin, (0,0), which is both x and y intercepts
--------------
where would the lines intersect if you solved the system by graphing
Sub for y into the 1st eqn
x+y=56
x+3x = 56
x = 14
y = 3x = 42
--> (14,42)
