Multiply thru by 10 to get rid of some of the decimals:
-3 + 10x - 50(x + (1/10)) = -8 +50(-x + 0.1)
----
Modify:
-3 + 10x - 50x - 5 = -8 - 50x + 5
-------------
Combine:
-8 - 40x = -3 - 50x
-----------------
Add 50x to both sides; Add 8 to both sides:
10x = 5
x = 1/2
-------------------
Checking:
Substitute for "x" in the original equation to
see if you get a true statement.
