Question 220890: What is the system and it's solution of
x+4y=12
y=-x

Answer by drj(1380)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
What is the system and it's solution of
x+4y=12 Equation A
y=-x OR -x-y=0 Equation B

Step 1. Add the above linear equations A and B yields x+(-x)+4y+(-y)=12+0 or 3y=12.

Step 2. Dividing 3 to both sides of the equation

and

Step 3. Check B: -4+4*4=12... a true statement.

Step 4. ANSWER: The solution is x=-4 and y=4 or (-4,4).

I hope the above steps were helpful.
