Question 216161: Find the equation of the line in function notation y=mx+b form
parallel to 4y-7x=-5 through (5,-8)

4y-7x=-5 through (5,-8)
4y=7x-5
y=-7x/4-5/4 (red line)
This line has a slope=-7/4 so a parallel line will also have a slope=-7/4.
8=-7/4*5+b
8=35/4+b
b=8-35/4
b=(32-35)/4
b=-3/4 the y intercept.
y=-7x/4-3/4 (green line) is the equation of this parallel line.
(graph 300x200 pixels, x from -6 to 5, y from -10 to 10, of TWO functions -7x/4 -5/4 and -7x/4 -3/4).
