Question 208176: my problem is solving for y in the point slope equation. i find the slope with no problem. it's when the slope is in fractional form that i have a problem solving. for example y-y1=m(x-x1) i plug in the numbers. my slope is 1/2 so y-y1= 1/2(x-x1) y-5=1/2x-1. i need to see how this is worked out.

Were you given a point that is on the line? You seem to have been given a value y1=5, but I don't know what you were given for x1. Whatever it was, if the slope was 1/2, use the distributive property to take 1/2 x - 1/2 x1.
Let us know what x1 is, and maybe we can help you finish it.
