Your friend is buying candy for his sweetie for Valentine’s Day. He decides to buy chocolate-covered almonds "a", peanut butter cups "p", and toffee crunch "t". The chocolate-covered almonds cost $4.50 per pound "4.5a", the peanut butter cups are $1.50 per pound "1.5p"(he got those at Walmart "funny"), and the toffee crunch costs $3.75 per pound "3.75t". Your friend decides three things:
1. He is going to spend $35. 35=4.5a+1.5p+3.75t
2. He is going to get his sweetie 12 pounds of candy. 12=a+p+t
3. He is going to buy 3 more pounds of peanut butter cups than chocolate almonds. p=a+3
If a, p, and t represent the weights of almonds, peanut butter cups, and toffee (respectively), write three equations based on your friend’s three decisions above….do not solve!
