A straight line passes through the points (5,3) and (7,1)
a. find its slop
It's slope.
Slope, m, = diffy/diffx
m = (1-3)/(7-5)
m = -1
--------------
b. find equation of this line using point-slop from of the line
y-y1 = m*(x-x1) (x1,y1) is either point
y-3 = -1*(x-5) = -x+5
y = -x + 8 slope-intercept form
-------------------
c. find x-intercpt and y-intercept of the line.
To find the x-intercept set y = 0
0 = -x + 8
x = 8 --> (8,0)
--------------
y-intercept = (0,8) from slope intercept eqn above
---------------------
d. find the equation of a line by slop-intercept from of the line. verify
whether it is sme as one obtained in part (b)
I don't know what that means.
