Question 183822: Thanks for your help by seeing your answer worked out I'm learning by solving linear equations.
A hunting club bought 100 acres of wooded and marsh land. They paid an average of 4000.00 for each wooded acre and 3000.00 for each marsh acre. There were over 2000 deer and 500 ducks using it. If the club paid $380,000.00 for the land, how many acres of marsh did it buy. Please solve for me thanks.

-----------------------------------------
Equations:
Area Equation: w + m = 100 acres
Value Equation: 4000w + 3000m = 380,000
------------------------------------------
Prepare for solution by elimination:
3000w + 3000m = 3000*100
4000w + 3000m = 380,000
--------------------------
Subtract the 1stequation from the 2nd to get:
1000w = 380,000 - 300,000
w = 80 (# of acres of wooded land purchased)
100-w = 20 (# ofacres of marsh land purchased)
