Find the equation of a line that passes through (-2,4) and is perpendicular to the line 4x+3y=6.
--------------
Find the slope of the given equation:
y = (-4/3)x + 2
slope is -4/3
--------
Your problem:
Any line perpendicular to the given line must have slope = 3/4
Form is y = mx+b
You know m = 3/4 and y = 4 when x = -2 ; solve for "b":
4 = (3/4)(-2)+ b
4 = -3/2 + b
b = 11/2
--------------------
Equation:
y = (3/4)x + 11/2
