The idea is to isolate the unknown 'x' to one side of the equation.
.
3(2x+3)+2(x+4)=25
Start by distributing the 3 and 2 to terms inside the parentheses:
(6x+9)+(2x+8)=25
Combine like-terms:
(6x+2x)+(9+8)=25
(8x)+(17)=25
Subtracting 17 from both sides:
8x = 25-17
8x = 8
Dividing both sides by 8:
x = 1
