well, its already a linear function. We do need to write it so as to isolate the y term.

3y=-6x+9/2
:
y=-2x+3/2
:
f(5)=-2x+3/2=-2(5)+3/2=-8.5

Subtract from both sides.
Rearrange the terms.
Divide both sides by to isolate y.
Break up the fraction.
Divide.
Now replace "y" with f(x). The equation is now in function form.
