Question 17266: the line y=3/5x + 1/4 intersects the line y=-1/8x + r at the point (-1/2,-1/20) for what value of r?
Answer by venugopalramana(3286)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
y=3/5x + 1/4 intersects the line y=-1/8x + r at the point (-1/2,-1/20)
the intersection point -(1/2,-1/20) lies on both the lines.hence
y=-1/8 x + r should be satisfied by (-1/2,-1/20)..substituting
-1/20=(-1/8)*(-1/2)+r
r=-1/20-(1/16) = -[(4+5)/80]=-9/80
