Question 172128: Graph and give the coordinates of the vertex,x and y intercepts, and graph

In order to find the vertex (h,k), the easiest way is to use the formula

So here, a=-1, b=-6, and c=0, so

To find k, you just evaluate the function at x=-3. So

So the vertex is (-3,9). The y intercept is found by setting x equal to 0.

So the y intercept is the origin, (0,0).
The x intercepts are found by setting y = 0.

Factoring, we get

So
and
So our two x intercepts are at x=0 and x=-6.
Finally, graphing, we get
