Are you able to show me how to find the slope of the graph of the linear function f.
f(2) = -3, f(-3) = 5
---------------
Yes, I am.
Given are 2 points for f(x), or y. When x is 2, y is -3, and when x is -3, y is 5.
This is the 2 points (2,-3) and (-3,5)
Now find the slope m.
m = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1) = (-3 -5)/(2 - (-3))
m = -8/(5) = -8/5
Use either point:
y -y1 = m*(x-x1)
y-(-3) = (-8/5)*(x-2)
y+3 = (-8x/5) + 16/5
y = (-8x/5) + 1/5 slope-intercept form
8x + 5y = 1 standard form
