Question 165687: linear equation x = -1 graphs as a horizontal/vertical/diagonal line choose the best answer
How do I do this?

Answer by gonzo(654)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x = -1 would graph as a vertical line at x = -1.
y can be any value.
-------------------------------
y = -1 would graph as a horizontal line at y = -1.
x can be any value.
--------------------------------------
y = x would graph as a diagonal line sloping upwards from bottom left to top right.
--------------------------------------
y = -x would graph as a diagonal line sloping downwards from top left to bottom right.
--------------------------------------
plot some points and you can see where the line is going.
for y = x, some values would be:
x = -5, y = -5
x = 0, y = 0
x = 5, y = 5
-----
for y = -x, some values would be:
x = -5, y = 5
x = 0, y = 0
x = 5, y = -5
-----
x-axis is horizontal
y-axis is vertical
