Question 140410: how would I write an equation using: slope=1/3,passing through(-1,5)? thank you!!
Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
write an equation using: slope=1/3,passing through(-1,5)
----------------
form y = mx + b
You know y=5 when x=-1 and you know m = 1/3; solve for "b":
5 = (1/3)*(-1) + b
5 = -1/3 + b
b = 16/3
--------------
EQUATION:
y = (1/3)x + (16/3)
