SOLUTION: If I was given the points ( -2, -4) (1,-1) would my answer be y=1x+2? And if I was given the points (2,4) and (-3,-1) would my answer be y=1x-2? Thank you for your help!

FIRST YOU NEED TO FIND THE SLOPE FOR THE LINE EQUATION [Y=mX +b] WHERE m=SLOPE & b=Y INTERCEPT.
THE SLOPE (m) IS (Y2-Y1)/(X2-X1).
(-2,-4)(1,-1)
(-1-4)/(1+2)
-5/3 IS THIS SLOPE.
NOW REPLACE THE X & Y VALUES & SOLVE FOR THERE Y INTERCEPT (b).
-4=-5/3*-2+b
-4=10/3+b
b=-4+10/3
b=(-12+10)/3
b=-2/3
THUS THE EQUATION IS:
Y=-5X/3-2/3 (RED LINE).

(2,4)(-3,-1)
(-1-4)/(-3-2)
-5/-5=1 FOR THIS SLOPE.
4=1*-1+b
4=-1+b
b=4+1
b=5
THUS THE EQUATION FOR THIS LINE IS:
