Question 129804: Please help me with this one.
Write the equation of a line that is perpendicular to the y-axis and has a y-intercept of -5.
Thank you in advance.

A line perpendicular to the y-axis is parallel
to the x-axis. Since the slope is defined as
(change in y)/(change in x), the slope is zero.
There is never any change in y no matter what
the change in x is.
The general equation for a straight line is:
where is the slope
and is the y-intercept.
I just said for the line perpendicular
to the y-axis, so

The problem says the y-intercept is -5
