Question 126461:
graph the line that passes through (5,4), parallel to the graph of 4.4x+6.5y=5
Answer by checkley71(8403) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
4.4x+6.5y=5
6.5y=-4.4x+5
6.5y=-4.4x+5
y=-4.4x/6.5+5/6.5 this line has a slope=(-4.4/6.5) (red line)
Thus a parallel line will also have a slope=(-4.4/6.6)
4=(-4.4/6.5)5+b
4=-22/6.5+b
4+22/6.5=b
b=(4*6.5+22)/6.5
b=(26+22)/6.5
b=48/6.5 thus the equation is:
y=-4.4x/6.5+48/6.5 answer. (green line)
(graph 300x200 pixels, x from -6 to 5, y from -10 to 10, of TWO functions -4.4x +5/6.5 and -4.4x/6.5 +5/6.5).
