Let f(x) = 4/3x + 8 and g(x) = -x-5, At what point do f(x) and g(x) intersect? (Write the coordinates)
-------------------------
They intersect where f(x)=g(x)
----------------------------
EQUATION:
(4/3)x+8 = -x-5
(4/3)x = -x - 13
(4/3)x +(3/3)x = -13
(7/3)x = -13
7x = -39
x = -39/7
--------------
Substitute to solve for "y":
y = -(-39/7) -5
y = (39/7)-(35/7)
y = 4/7
-------------------
x=-39/7 ; y = 4/7
