: find the point of intersection of eaach pair of straight lines.
2x-3y=6 and 3x+6y=16
This question is from textbook Tan 8 finite mathematics

Answer by rapaljer(4671)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2x-3y=6
3x+6y=16

To eliminate the y variable in these equations, multiply the first equation times 2, and add the two equations together:

4x-6y=12
3x+6y=16

7x=28
x=4

Substitute back into either equation:
2x-3y=6
2(4)-3y =6
8-3y=6
-3y=-2
y=2/3

Check by substituting into the second equation:
3x+6y=16
3(4)+6(2/3)=16
12+4=16

This checks!!
