Find an equation of the line containing the given pair of points (-3, -9) and (-6, -8)
first we need to find the slope between the two points and we do that using this formula:
now plugging in number into that we get
so our slope is -1/3. Now we need to find the equation of the line using 1 of two methods.
Method 1 - Point slop form
y - y1 = m(x-x1)
y + 8 = -1/3(x+6)
y + 8 = -1/3x - 2
y = -1/3 x - 10
Method 2
-8 = -1/3(-6)+b
-8 = 2 + b
-10 =
y = -1/3x - 10
