.

x-intercept is the point on x-axis, where function y(x) is zero.

So, from the given equation, we write

    4y = -5x - 10

and equate the right side to zero

    -5x - 10 = 0.

It gives us

    5x = - 10

     x = -10/5 = -2.

So, x-intercept is the point  x= - 2 on x-axis.    ANSWER

A student who already knows how to work the problem will understand what the response from tutor @josgarithmetic means. But that response is too cryptic to be of any use to the student who is trying to learn HOW to solve the problem.

And finding the answer doesn't require as much effort as shown in the response from the other tutor....

The "x-value of the x-intercept" of a graph is the x value when y is zero. So simply substitute y=0 in the given equation and solve for x.

ANSWER: x=-2
