Question 117979: Find the equation, in slope-intercept form, of the line that passes through the
points (5,6) and (-7,3)

FIRST WE FIND THE SLOPE:
(3-6)/(-7-5)=-3/-12=1/4
NOW REPLACE THE X & Y TERMS BY ONE SET OF POINTS ALONG WITH THE SLPE & SOLVE FOR THE Y INTERCEPT(b).
6=1/4*5+b
6=5/4+b
b=6-5/4
b=(24-5)/4
b=19/4 THE Y INTERCEPT.
THUS WE HAVE THE LINE EQUATION:
Y=X/4+19/4
(graph 300x200 pixels, x from -20 to 5, y from -10 to 10, y = x/4 +19/4).
