Would the coordinates be (6,-4), (-1,-9), (2,-5), or (-3,-3)
You DON'T have to solve he inequality for y before checking the coordinate points. 
That's work that's TOTALLY UNNECESSARY! Unless, of course you're requested to solve for y.

2x - 3y < 9 
2(6) - 3(- 4) < 9 ------ Substituting (6, - 4) for (x, y)
12 + 12 < 9
24 < 9 
The above is FALSE, so (6, - 4) is NOT a solution.

2x - 3y < 9 
2(- 1) - 3(- 9) < 9 ------ Substituting (- 1, - 9) for (x, y)
- 2 + 27 < 9
25 < 9 
The above is FALSE, so (- 1, - 9) is NOT a solution. 

2x - 3y < 9 t
2(2) - 3(- 5) < 9 ------ Substituting (2, - 5) for (x, y)
4 + 15 < 9
19 < 9 
The above is FALSE, so (2, - 5) is NOT a solution.

From the given inequality, you correctly deduced this final inequality

Geometrically, you draw the straight line y = ,


It divides the coordinate plane in two parts: one part is above this line; the other part is below this line.


The set of solutions to the inequality (1) is the set of all points of the coordinate plane, that are strictly

above the line (excluding points on the line).
