Solve the system of equations using the elimination/addition method and state the appropriate solution.
x+(1/3y)=(5/12)
8x + 3y = 4
---------------
Multiply thru the top equation by 8 to get::
8x + (8/3)y = 40/12
8x + (9/3)y = 48/12
---------
Subtract top from bottom and solve for "y"::
(1/3)y = 8/12
y = 24/12 = 2
-----
Solve for "x"::
8x + 3y = 4
8x + 6 = 4
8x = -2
x = -1/4
------------

Solve the system of equations using the elimination/addition method and state the appropriate solution.
x+(1/3y)=(5/12)
8x + 3y = 4
    ---- eq (i)
8x + 3y = 4 -------- eq (ii)
24x + 8y = 10 ------- Multiplying eq (i) by 24 ------- eq (iii)
- 24x - 9y = - 12 ----- Multiplying eq (ii) by - 3 ------- eq (iv)
- y = - 2

8x + 3(2) = 4 ------ Substituting 2 for y in eq (ii)
8x + 6 = 4
8x = 4 - 6
8x = - 2
