Question 1147400: The number of legislators has increased approximately linearly from 1139 positions in 2003 to 1265 positions in 2010. Let n be the number of legislators at t years since 2000. Find an equation of a linear model to describe the data.

Answer by Boreal(15235)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
slope is (1265-1139)/7 the increase divided by the number of years.
That is 126/7 or 18
point slope formula y-y1=m(x-x1) m slope (x1, y1) a point, like (3, 1139) or (10, 1265)
y-1139=18(x-3)
y=18x+1085 x years since 2000 and y number of legislators
