What is the x-intercept of the line with the equation y=1/4x-1
x intercept occurs when y = 0, therefor:
x - 1 = 0
add 1 to both sides
x = 1
get rid of the fraction, multiply both sides by 4
1x = 4*1
x = 4 is the x intercept

Check
*4 - 1 = 0
1 - 1 = 0
