Question 1110738: Problem Page Two buses leave a station at the same time and travel in opposite directions. One bus travels 16 /kmh faster than the other. If the two buses are 1270km apart after 5 hours, what is the rate of each bus
Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let speed of one bus be x kmh
the other will be (x+16) kmh
they are moving in opposite directions
so effective speed is x+x+16 -> 2x+16
distance = 1270 km
time = 5 hours
d= s x t
1270 = (2x+16) *5
1270/5 = 2x +16
254 = 2x+16
2x= 238
x= 119 km/h
add 16 to get speed of second bus
