Either 2x-5 is negative or it is non-negative. Solve for both conditions.

This is 2x-5>7 and 2x-5 < -7 (I want an absolute value to be LESS than -7, so the actual value is GREATER than 7).
The first is x >6 and the second is x < -1
(-oo, -1) U (6, oo)
Check with 0 (should not work) and |-5| is not > 7
7 should work and |14-5| > 7 and does
-2 should work and |-4-5| >7 does.
