Find the slope of the line containing (7,2) and (5,-4)
----------
Slope = diffy/diffx -------- change in y over change in x
= (-4-2)/(5-7)
= -6/-2
= 3

.
The slope is equal to the ratio: slope = .

y_increment = -4 - 2 = -6.

x_increment = 5 - 7 = -2.

Thus the slope =  = 3.

There is nothing more simple than that.
