Question 1063736: Find the slope of the line if y is (4,0) and x is (0,3) I don't understand how to do slopes.. Help..
Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
slope is change in y divided by change in x.
you subtract the y from 1 ordered pair from the other.
using the same ordered pair first, you do the same with the x.
From left to right, the change in y is 0-3=-3, since those are the y-values.
From left to right, the change in x is 4-0=4
The slope is -3/4
Note, you can go the other direction, but you have to do the same direction with both y and x.
