You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x%2B4y+=+2
put this in the form y+=+mx+%2B+b
4y+=+-x+%2B+2
y+=+%28-1%2F4%29x+%2B+%281%2F2%29
In this form, m is the slope
m+=+-%281%2F4%29
Any parallel line has the same slope, so the line I want is
y+=+%28-1%2F4%29x+%2B+b
Now I have to find b
The line I'm looking for goes through (-1,3)
3+=+%28-1%2F4%29%28-1%29+%2B+b
3+=+1%2F4+%2B+b
b+=+3+-+%281%2F4%29
b+=+12%2F4+-+1%2F4
b+=+11%2F4
So, my line is
y+=+%28-1%2F4%29x+%2B+11%2F4
or
4y+=+-x+%2B+11
x+%2B+4y+=+11 answer
